Been busy metal working at hammering and sanding, filling and sanding. Pretty boring stuff so I took a break and tried to figure out a color for my truck. I think I have settled on this color. It is a 51 Ford color called Culver Blue which is a metallic. It was on the cars not trucks but it is at least a 50's color. It changes quite a bit depending on the light as this mix has a bit of pearl in it. I just sprayed it on a spare door I had with hardly any prep, just lightly sanded and a primed.
I received my new box, tailgate and running boards from MidWest . It is starting to look like a truck again. Once I have all the metal work done and panels fitted I will disassemble and start the painting process. This is when it gets exciting for me.
allout5151,
Oh my! Your build thread is a inspiration alright. Just awesome work on the details of this truck! You do make it look easzy peazy! Also the work your doing looks great to me. Sure makes me want to start on a project. But I am easily distracted and jump around a lot. Truck is really coming together nice. I like to see them in primer as much or more than finish pait!
Regards,
Chris
Exeptional metalwork!!! Looking good. Couple of questions... How did you pry the edges of the doors apart, and what are your plans for encapsulating the rust inside the doors?

Thank you Badger. I used a thin screwdriver to start prying up the lip and then went to a bigger one to get enough leverage so I could grab it with my pliers. If you do it carefully enough it will hammer back down without noticing. You have to watch that if you pry it up and out too much it will put a little indent on the other side. Ask me how I know. Some of my edge was rotted so I just welded a new piece on. As for the inside of the door, while it was open I wire brushed as much as I could then I treated it all with a product called Rust Check. When the remaining rust turns black you know it worked. Then I mixed up some epoxy primer and brushed it on everything I could reach.
Looks great! It looks sweet in just the primer. I can't imagine how nice it will look painted the blue. The blue is a nice choice. That epoxy primer seems more glossy that the spray can primers I've used in the past. I'm thinking it makes it easier to see any imperfections with it being glossy? I suck at body work and can really appreciate what you've done so far. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Thank you Ken, it is far from perfect. The primer definitely shows what I have missed but I am not going to be too fussy on this one. It will be a driver that I am sure will get used unlike some of my other previous restorations.
