'86 Truck Intake

I see over and over that the truck EFI intake manifold set is a good one for general purpose light performance. I was wondering if that assessment includes the 1986 set up which occurred only on that model. Why would Ford ditch it after just one year? I don't know that this setup ever appeared on any other Ford engine.

Ford used the same upper/lower on the pickups from 1986 to 1996 on the 5.0's. Holley used to make a HP upper to fit that lower you pictured. And one other vender did as well.

I guess I posted without double checking. My cousin's '87 had a plenum with staggered round holes in it. Must have not been the original. Thanks for the enlightenment. This answers my question too.

Staggered round holes were on the Cobra intake and the Exploder too.

I have not posted this in a while. Here are 3 of the lower 5.0 EFI intake sections, left is the Mustang 5.0, middle is the truck 5.0, right is the GT40/Explorer 5.0





And yeah... the 5.8 EFI intake(below) is different again. LOL.. Why Ford, why so many?

The Crown Vic, Marquis & Lincoln used one similar to the Mustang lower.
