I'm wanting to replace my choke cable ****, it is pretty knarley and ugly. It looks to be original. Trouble is I can't figure out to get the **** of the shaft.
LMC replacement is a set screw setup but the original isn't.
Before I take my vice grips to it I thought I'd try to tap the experience here. The cable is on duty in my truck now so that makes it a little tougher to beat or grind on. I'm trying to not have to replace the entire cable to get the **** replaced.

The **** was only furnished with the cable, it wasn't available by itself.
resonateut, Thanks for the offer. At the risk of "looking a gift horse in the mouth" does the cable have a **** that is light in color or yellowed?
I attached a pic. I'm replacing them because they are yellowed and been painted at one time. If the one you are giving away is a nice light colored **** I'd take you up on it, if not I'll just buy a cable and "bite it".
I bought new ones but had one original. To get the new ones to match I lightly sanded and then I took brown shoe polish to it. Now the new ones look like the original
Swamp...I'm not sure, I'll have to check it when I get home....no worries if you're not interested. As TA stated above, you can also just get the white insert. I may even have on of those....will return!
I found an NOS '67 cable which of course has a different ****. I removed the **** using a heat gun, then threaded the stud and installed a new '66 style **** with a threaded insert. It looks like it came from the factory that way. The reproduction cables have a different type jacket that is much thinner, shinier and harder than the originals.
....yeah, the one I have has a crispy yellow center. If I were you, I would just buy a ****, burn the old one off, make sure the shaft has serrations on it, and epoxy the new one on. Most old choke controls will be the owner of just as old *****....
