Can this becfixed
I have a good y block thermostat. Only problem is the tube at the bottom of the thermostat leaks. Can this be fixed? It seems like it’s just pressed in. Maybe it can be welded?

My thermostat housing for my 272 y block has a pressed in tube for the waterpump bypass hose...I removed the old rotten one. I used just the blade off of a hacksaw to cut sections out and collapsed the remaining pipe I cut a piece of copper pipe to the correct length...dont make it too long or the hose will NOT fit on once both the thermostat cover and the waterpump are in place...the hose has to bend some to fit it in place.....I used a vise to press the tube into the t stat housing. I used some permatex sealer also but dont think that was absolutely necessary ....I did this last year and its been fine. I think after I did this I learned that Dennis Carpenter sells that little pipe. Dont quote me on that though.....
