a month or so ago, I found posting that mentioned a site
with instructions for modifying the MAF by removing the center post. While it does not say it gave any startling performance modifications, it does it helps, and the price is right.
Does anyone remember the URL? I haven't been able to find it again.
I've read a little bit about what makes the MAF tick and how it is supposed to work within the parameters of the entire engine control/management system.
I've also read several other reports and posts similar to silvapain's from people who have modified their MAF. More often than not these people have encountered one or more negative ramifications as a result of the modification, while the gains in performance have been negligible...
As such, modifying the MAF is not something I would do myself.
You can read some more about the pros and cons of doing it here: MAF Theory and Fact

I just wish I would have known about that before I did the modification. I also think that the oil from my K&N filter is getting onto the MAF sensor, causing a malfunction.
It was doing okay, unitl I pulled the battery to hook up an amp. As long as I let it warm up before it put it inot gear, it is fine. The problem is, I can never get enough key cycles in for the ECU to fully learn the new settings, before I a time comes that I am in a hurry and can't let it warm up. Then I have to disconnect the battery, and start over (I don't have a reader for the computer).
