Hey Guys,
I have an 89 F 150 and my six is completely blown. This is a hard motor to find for a good price and I dont have the time to rebuild it. Can I get a 5.0 and slap it in there. Will it bolt up to the Stock 5 speed that comes with the 6, what abou the components, I know i will need new manifolds. I guess I just need to know how big of a project is this. Or would it be better to just pay the extra money for the six.
Frame mounts need changed. Radiator inlet and outlets are different. Not a bad swap if you have a complete donor truck. The 300 IMO is a better way to go.
Zieg, thanx for your reply. Can I use the same engine components with the 5.0. I have a buddy that can sell one to me realy cheep but it would bite me if I had to find all the components., and radiator. What about the transmission and clutch. Your subtext says your truck is for sale, how much.
The flywheel on the 6 is different. You should be able to use your clutch components. The flywheel is balanced different with the 5.0L The engine components brackets are all different. The exhaust is all different. The 5.0L does however share the bellhousing bolt pattern with the 4.9L E-mail me off forum and we can discuss further if you would like. If you need a 4.9L I have one.
