cobra, a Flash is a "Software Upgrade" essentially.
its often used synonymously with a "New Calibration" too, [tho that term has its own grammatical and/or semantical misconceptions...]
anyway... basically a Ford Tech plugs in a Laptop (or equivilent) to the truck's OBD2 port (On-Board-Diagnostics, gen2), presses 'GO', and uploads a new Software File (to Overwrite existing file) into the truck's PCM (engine puter -- Pwrtrn Cntl Module).
theorectially, the new SOFTWARE will allow for improved engine controls/operations, and 'fix' any learned or previously unforeseen 'problems' present at time of Prior S/W Release. (however, skeptics believe that 'other' tidbits of digital 1's and 0's contained w/in that new flash can ADVERSELY affect some already 'enjoyed' traits of the current PCM s/w.) toss the dice.
