whats a 127 code neither my haynes manual or the manual that came with my code reader list this code . Something else I can't figure out is , why I'm getting 3 digit codes when the book says that most vehicles through 1991 only use 2 digit codes which by the way I also received some of . there were no stored codes and I cleared the reader by removing the batteries before my tests . I hope somebody can explain this I'm baffled.
Yes, you should be getting only two digit codes. Three digit codes started showing up in some applications in '92.
What kind of code reader is it? I've never used any of the code readers, I always use my $3 analog voltmeter to read the codes. I'm guessing that the code reader is not interpreting the voltage pulses correctly.
When you say there were no stored codes (manuals call them continuous memory codes), does that mean you got a pass code (11) or nothing?
The code reader is an OBD 1 made by Innova elec . corp. When I said there were no stored (continuous) codes I should have said all I got was a pass code 11. The 2 digit KOER codes I got were 12 , 13 and 16 thanks for the quick reply.
So this so called "127" is a KOEO "hard fault" code. I wonder if the code reader is somehow putting the "fast code" voltage pulse and/or the "separator pulse" in with the KOEO codes. Does it show the separator pulse (Think it can show a code 10 between KOEO and continuous memory codes).
Out of curiosity, does the code reader flash light and you count light flashes, or does it just put out a numeric code?
Do you feel like trying to read the codes with a voltmeter/test light? Procedures are the same, only you'll be counting needle sweeps/blinks. Hookup and instructions can be found at www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html . Need to figure out what that "127" means, because you need to diagnose the KOEO codes first, then move the KOER, then, if there are any left, diagnose the continuous memory codes.
I wish I had a better idea. Good luck.
I think I may have found the problem . I took the PCM out today and there is a label on it that say's (Taurus Sable only 3.0 L) I'm going to check into this alittle bit . I've heard that the PCM that was used in the 1987 - 87 1/2 BII was used exclusively For that application. I do have an Idea when and why mine may have been replaced but thats a long story . I'll let you know what I find out.
I finally got an answer on the 3 digit code mystery
the manufacturer of my code reader put some demo codes in it and I must have put it demo mode
by mistake. I'm still looking for a PCM for my 87 Bronco II 4x4. I don't have the original one so I don't have any of the ID. #s.
