Are there any online dealers that take points (ie ship to you)? I hardly ever go near a dealership.
Nope, I wish they would enable that option. The pricing that one of my local dealers gives through FordParts.com is not bad, far less than msrp. Walk in and they charge full price.
I'll be at a dealer in a couple of days for the first oil change on the 2019 I bought in September 2019 (it just hit 5k miles). I wanted to be sure they accepted the points for service and they assured me that they do.
I don't really need anything accessory wise, but I may see what's available to me with the points just for something to do while I wait.
The point thing is a marketing gimmick to get you to use Fords service department for more than just warranty work. Was a time when a few oil changes could be negotiated as part of a vehicle purchase. Now Ford is taking care of that for the dealership. It also gets people to look at accessories from the dealership instead of going to another source. They hope you will spend far more than theThe points you have.

The last couple of trucks I've had a dealer do the oil changes anyway. I discovered it was about the same price as the local fast lube place was charging. Plus, the fast lube doesn't rotate the tires and the dealer does. It also doesn't hurt that routine maintenance is on record with Ford. So I guess I'll get a couple freebies out of them for points I wouldn't otherwise use anyway.
15,366 points for The Works oil change/tire rotation on a 6.2 according to the FordPass app. However, when I click on the My Transactions button I get, "We're sorry. Something isn't right. Please try again or chat with a FordGuide".
Got points when I purchased chased a 2019 Explorer. Had a bunch of work done on a 2011 F350 later, so more points.
Needed new pads and rotors on a 2016 Edge, so used all the points towards that. Normally I would not have had the dealer do brakes, but I had no other use for the points so chose to use them up. Saved about $325.
I agree, its ridiculous how much markup they have. But they gave me points, they expire in a year so I used mine for a console vault and one oil filter. I used all but 40 points.
How did you actually use the points? Go to the Parts Dept desk and manually do it that way?
I got the Banks iDash and suction mount for at cost from the Banks Power website. No up charge or anything. They even installed it without me asking them too and didn't charge the $30-50 install fee (they do $30 to install floor mats according to the ford site...). Points covered it all and still have ~9k left that I won't have any use for
I would also like to know how you were abke to accomplish this. You get it from the dealer through Banks website?
