6.2L Spark Plug ??

Ordered SP-526 plugs from Tasca and changing today at 80,000. No problems, running good, just trying to stay ahead on maintenance.

The plugs I order/received are all "finewire" double platinum CYFS12FP.

The 7 I've pulled from top are larger/normal electrode CYFS12NPG. The 4 ive pulled so far on bottom are CYFS12F and are finewire plugs.

Any clue why thry put one on top and one on bottom????

Also, in the pic below the bottom plug (and cop boot not shown) have a white powder corrosive looking build up primarily near base of plug. The plug next to it had some but not as much. Any idea what causes this and if a problem exits that I should address????

Thanks for any info!!

First I've heard of 2 different plug types.
the corrosion you are speaking of is on the bottom plugs only? I would say that's probably because they get spray, salt, dirt etc. From the front wheels. Even just moisture will do this. My guess anyway.
were there any tricks to replacing these? I had a 6.2 in my F150 but never had to change them.

I could swear I read somewhere that the platinum plugs are in the bottom to combat the fouling issue from oil overfills. Evidently even a slight over fill can cause the problem. I purposely fill mine to about 1/4 of the range on the dipstick.

No..... the 2 in the picture are from the top passenger side.

Tricks, not really but sorta.
The top ones are pretty basic. I did have to disconnect a fuel line to get the back one on the drivers side.
The bottom ones on drivers side, I accessed from the top til the back one closest to the firewall, I got it from underneath.
On the passenger side I got the first bottom one from up top. I'm going to try and access the back 3 bottom ones from underneath or from the wheel well.

Also, I had trouble disconnecting the wire plug on the COPs. You can remove the COPS from the plugs without disconnecting the wire plugs which is what I did. You wi)l want to pull the plug wire on most of the COPs which is relatively easy.

The wire plugs have a red clip that u pull back...then you push down on it as u try to separate the plug from the COP. At least thats how it supposed to work but I tried on a couple and they wouldn't budge much.

Anyway .... thats about all I got. I still have the last 3 to get tomorrow. I went ahead and put everythi g together up top and will try for the last 3 from bottom/side.

No clue on differant plugs, but when I had my 04 Ranger with the 4.0 people on the ranger site said several people experienced iridium on driver side and platinums on passenger side of the motor. When I did my plugs at 60k sure enough mine we the same way....

I finished last 3 on the bottom passenger side.

As indicated earlier, all 8 of the lower/bottom plugs were finewire. The top 8 were all the standard electrode (see first post for plug #'s).

Again, I ordered and replaced all 16 with the finewire double platinum.

As for "tricks" .... u can do some of the lower plugs from above but most (particularly the back 3 on the passenger side) can be accessed easiest by removing front tires and at least partially removing the wheel well cover. With the wheel well cover removed it makes for easy access on the lower plugs.

That's it . Done for another 80-90000. Next brakes. I'll do them another 10000 or so
