So you have a J3 port Quarterhorse module?
What software are you using with it?

The hardware will work with a wide range of PCMs and 3 different software packages so technically it could work with your '87 PCM but you need the correct strategy file for it and that is where you may discover a roadblock, if no strategy file is available then you can't tune that PCM.

I use tuner pro RT and have had it work great I the ranger, the 87 f250hd is the 4.9 with t18 efi and i wanted to wait and ask if this one had the j3, I have the bin adx and xdf for the engine just would like to know if it has the port, I really just want to get rid of all the emissions garbage and put 3-4 pounds of boost into it

The quarter horse uses the J3 port that was very popular in many ford cars such as the foxbody mustangs in 86-92, my 2002 ranger with the 2.3 duratec dual overhead cam Mazda engine and m5odr1 was boosted and made 280 ish HP, but an engine having 253K was not a good candidate as the rings in cyl 3 went out and lost compression so I'm gonna get the sleeve removed fresh sleeves and such and all forged but all of the tuning I have done through the J3 on the pcm using a 2005 ranger bin file witch had the mech thermo and no anti theft

All OBD1 Ford PCMs have the J3 port, it would be interesting to many I'm sure if you could make this work.

no. pcm is behind the parking brake in the driver side kick panel.
you have to unbolt it from the engine bay, then slide it out. from inside the cab. if i remember correctly, you have to remove the parking brake assembly to remove the cm too.

Do they make a harness extender so that I can move the pcm up to the radio position since I don't use the radio I use my Bluetooth
