First off, they didn't make a 2.3 turbo 78, I believe they came out in the stang around 1980. The first generation turbo 2.3's were weak, only around 140 hp compared to 190 hp in the turbo coupes. 2nd of all, a 2.3 isn't enough motor for a heavy F-150 truck, turbo or not. There's not enough lowend torque to move the thing. Find you a ranger to put your 2.3 into. Your 300 has alot more torque and about the same hp as the turbo 2.3, so you wouldn't gain anything except labor the pee out of the 2.3. Iy you want to improve the performance of the 300, swap in a 4 or 5 speed manual tranny, 4:10 gears in the rear. Cifford performance sells headers, intake manifolds, cams, 4 barrel carbs and ported heads for the 300 I-6 engine if you want a screamer. The only thing the 2.3 would be screaming for his some help to move the truck ha ha.
