Addition Bed Lights

Hello all....I have a 2016 F-150 XLT that has the factory installed bed lights. I have a Diamondback cover on it and would like to add additional LED strip lighting down down the side so it illuminates more of the box. Is there a way to get LED strip lighting and tie it into the existing system so that they are control the same way the factory ones are (ie. through the dash switch, bed switch, key fob, etc. )

Thanks in advance for the help!!

I’ve seen posts of guys doing it successfully. It the trick is to not go too crazy with the strips.
I tried adding some lights and the load ended up killing the circuit. They drew too much power.

The ones I’ve seen were run under the rails from front to back on both sides. I’m 99.9% sure they tied into the switch in the bed. You can pull it out pretty easily. I don’t recall if I removed mine from the bed or from behind it by reaching up and squeezing the plastic tabs that hold it in.

If you want the new lights to work like existing ones, tie into the feed behind existing lights. It's a heavier gauge wire. Those wires on the switch are basically nothing more than a signal wire, pretty light gauge, and one side is hot all the time, and other side grounded thru a momentary switch, won't work.
As it is, I have a light kit coming complete with magnetic switch, that I plan to hardwire to the battery, with a couple amp fuse. Go to LEDGLOW.

I wonder if this is why I had a problem when trying to install my lights there? It worked with one light, but as soon as I added the other one the circuit shut down. Hmmm....
