Coolant is just over full, had Ford flush and refill under pressure as prescribed. Air temp today is 73, drove 5 miles, fans on full high when I pulled into the driveway.
I don't think a new intercooler is the solution, because you definitely have something else going on.
Can you post a pic of your coolant reservoir tank looking at it from the passenger side of the truck?
Have you checked that there is nothing impeding airflow to the intercooler and radiator (such as road debris, bags, plastic, or anything else)?
Are your shutters operating properly?
Coolant is about a half inch above full, hasn't come down with attempts to purge air. Shutters on top are open most of the time as its most often running the fans on high and sucking air. The lowers are closed when in park and running not sure if they open as I can see, Ford said both sets are working as they should. All radiators are open and clear, no external obstructions. Today is 91 and humid, around town the truck typically doesn't get over 227, if I start to get on it 234 will show up, then cool back down. Does better in town in traffic than on the highway, odd, hence my thought of the intercooler not working properly. Last time it was at the dealer for this the tech did recreate the condition, his comments were " the numbers above the gauge notify the driver that the temp is increasing and to lower the load on the engine." So I suppose 75 down the expressway with no load or trailer, cruise on, and keeping with traffic, means I need to slow down? Ugh
What is your transmission temperature? There is also a known issue with the temp sensor and it is prone to false readings. The temp sensor is a pain to change but I have changed numerous faulty ones on the 2nd gen EcoBoost engines.

Your coolant level is 1/2" above the tank seam?
The line between the words MAX and MIN is the MIN line.
I'm only asking because I thought that line was the MAX line before I noticed that the MAX line is above the word MAX....I think it is the actual tank seam.
Trans temp always good . Even with external gauge.

This is just grasping at straws but have you done anything to disrupt the airflow thru the engine compartment? Is the front air dam in place and are the splash shields under the engine in place?
No Sir, all factory. Searching the web and other forums I have found several other 17s with the exact problem. Unfortunately none seem to find a solution either.

If you put in a 170 or any temp less than 210 thermostat, your engine will stay in closed loop. Your fuel mileage will suffer, the engine will run too rich and your catalytic converters will fail early due to unburned soot in them.
I'm running a 180 and mpg's have not changed a bit. The engine runs at 199 and only spikes to about 205 when I go WOT for at least 10 5 full seconds or slightly warmed when towing in 100 degree plus temps.
I would say anybody that tows should do this. And according to my turner the AFR is just fine.
I do not recommend the OP doing this to solve an issue of running at the temps he is running though because there is something wrong and that must be fixed first.

What is the transmission temperature? Seems like you don't really want help here. If the trans is 215 the engine should be right at 210, these engines keep a tight delta and this is why I mentioned earlier that the temp sensor is known to be wrong and causes false overheating. The trans is a good indicator because it uses a package oil to water cooler so the temps are easy to trace.
