The Official -HIGHWAY- MPG Poll
1. Year 2023 w/7.3L and 10-speed auto
2. Cab configuration Crew
3. Current mileage on the odometer 3200mi
4. Auto or stick Auto... unfortunately
5. 2WD or 4WD 4WD
6. Rear gears 3.73
7. NON-stock tire size stock
8. Cap or no (if a P/U) long bed, no cap
9. Any aftermarket accessory that has had an effect on your mileage if it is far off the forum's average. Box stock as from the dealer.
Leaving TX with about 1000mi on the clock, headed to Indiana via OK/MO/IL, and return, ending mileage 3200mi. About 300# on the trip up, about 600# on the trip back, we averaged about 16gpm on regular (87) pump gas, running 3-5mph over the speed limit, and putting my foot into it to pass or get around problem drivers.
To be honest, I was astounded at the mileage figure. My 2009 V-10 would barely average 13mph (same configuration, only 2WD, but maybe a little more weight...) as well as my 2017 2500HD (6.0L 2WD.)
NON-ETHANOL gas would bump the MPG figure up about 1-1.5mph, but the cost offset was too much to justify it on a regular basis.

1. Year: 2021 Lariat FX4 7.3 w/3.55 gears
2. Cab configuration: Crew w 6.75ft bed
3. Current mileage on the odometer: 49,000
4. Auto or stick: 10spd Auto
5. 2WD or 4WD: 4wd
6. Rear gears: 3.55
7. NON-stock tire size: 37x12.5r17 Toyo ATIII (Installed at approx. 43,000 miles, stock 275/65r20 Michellin LTX ATs before that)
8. Cap or no (if a P/U): Truxedo Sentry CT roll up cover
9. Any aftermarket accessory that has had an effect on your mileage if it is far off the forum's average: Tremor front valence, 3.5" Carli Pintop suspension system
Lifetime average (as of this morning): 13.1 MPG (~43,000 miles bone stock, and lifted on 37's for the last 6,000) mix of probably 40/60 city/highway
A couple notable highway trips (all hand calc'ed):
- 2000 miles round trip Austin TX to Perdido Key Fla and back by way of Birmingham AL, unloaded other than suitcases/clothes/beach gear at about 19,000 miles on the clock, speeds 70-75MPH: 14.2MPG, outbound leg averaged consistent 15.1 MPG +/- 0.1-0.2, hills in North AL killed the trip avg.
- 1400miles Austin TX to Los Angeles CA with a full bed of crap that the movers couldnt take when I moved out here last summer, speeds 75-80MPH (Pre-Suspension/tires at about 25,000miles on the clock): 14.6MPG w/ a best tank of 15.7MPG
- Round trip Los Angeles to Austin TX and back, empty other than suitcases and cooler with the wife 2 kids and doggo (~38,000 miles on the clock, still stock): 14.4MPG (including some brutal winds on the return trip in West TX that dropped average down to mid 13's) w/ best tank of 16.5MPG (tuscon AZ to CA state line) on the return leg
- 5000 miles round trip Los Angeles to Austin TX, to Lake Charles LA, back to Austin, then to Mentone AL, and then back to Los Angeles via I40, speeds 75-80 on interstates, first long trip after suspension and tires (left the day after getting the 500mile retorque check at CJC): 14.4MPG for the entire trip which included city miles around Austin and Lake Charles visiting family, best tank was 15.8MPG on the outbound leg between Los Angeles and Phoenix AZ running 70-75MPH
On the highway I've basically seen zero impact from the lift and tires on long trips, the ten speed helps a TON here; however, they did absolutely murder the city mileage, easily lost 2+ MPG there. On the highway though, the truck has just rolled along at 14-15MPG with occasional highs in the 16s and lows in the 13's pretty much from the day I picked it up at the dealer with 3 miles on the clock.

Roughly the last 700-800 miles of my ownership was unloaded highway with the cruise set @ 60mph. 17.8 mpg was the trip average on the trucks computer. Didn't verify by hand calculation but I was getting over 400 miles before the fuel gauge was at halfway and the DTE kept rising and was in the low 700 mile range before I sold the truck.

Didn’t drive pure highway miles long trip much on this truck. But drove from Santa Fe to Phoenix (500 miles each way) got 16.5 mpg then 15.5 mpg on way back. Was pleased with the result I must admit.
