I have a 1968 f250 custom cab, that some time in the near future is going to get a new coat of paint and a few replacement parts. It has all of the original aluminum trim and it is in very good shape.
The trim along the sides is what I am most worried about, but there is also trim around the windshield as well, neither of which I know how to remove without damaging. Any help?
Don't mess with the trim around the windshield, if it's in good shape just leave it and mask. The trim goes in the rubber before you put the windshield in and it's a real pita, jmo.

Thanks for the welcome. I love these trucks and this is the second 68 that I've owned. I bought it for $500. The only thing I had to do was spend a day scrubbing the green mildew off it. It's straight and only has a little bit of rust. Just bottom of doors, hood supports, one cab support, and of course the bed floor. But the cab corners, fenders, floorpans and bed sides are in great shape. I have docs up to 84k miles when the owner had ford replace the top end gaskets (fe block seapage I am guessing).
The second owner had given up on it because it didn't seem to have the power it used to and after sinking $1500 into the front suspension, didn't want to spend any more on it. It was a slug driving home, but once home a timing light showed zero advance. A wrench and a twist and it would smoke the tires on demand.
Since I need to take most of the clip and cab apart to replace parts and paint it, I'll probably remove all the glass too. then paint everything. I'm not so much worried about the window chrome as I am the side trim, but that doesn't sound too bad. I guess I'll see when I take it out as to if I put it back in.
I still haven't decided what color, but was thinking bright red, or red and white.
I'm glad I didn't go the route I was about to, that would have been bad. I was going to try to use an interior trim tool to remove it. That would have been bad.
