Anyone install a bed slide?

Switching from a diesel Suburban to a 250 super duty with a cap. Concerned that every time I need something it will be deep into the bed and these old bones are not up for climbing. These bed slides seem interesting. Looking for real life use advise. Thanks

Why not just get that Shopping U thing that connects to the sides by the tailgate. Keeps everything close to the end and can be used when you keep the tailgate open. Can't think of the name right now

In my 2020 I installed the accessory bed extender, it can fold out onto the bed to give you extended length for carrying things (mine is a CCSB) or can fold inside, at which point it works perfectly to keep things from going to far forward in the bed, everything is easily reachable. When you don't need it you can fold it to the sides, giving you unrestricted bed length, and it doesn't take away any bed height, since I have a tonneau cover I wanted as much free height as possible. I use some shock cords to hold things that would slide around, mostly liquid bottles, like fuel additive, a spray bottle of simple green, stuff like that, and to hold things that I don't want to spill, like after i do an oil change the old filter in its box, paint, stuff like that. I really like the way it works.

I love mine. Can't imagine not having it. Just too old to crawl in and out of the truck.

I also "invented" something I call side slides.

This look interesting however it doesn't help get items further back in the bed behind the extender.

dsandfort : So far the Bed Slide seems to be the best option. I see you went for the 1500 model. Were you able to see the Bed Slide 2000? They said it is a noticeably beefier bed slide. I always seem to go over kill when I buy stuff. Curious if the extra weight vs heavier duty makes sense..

Thanks!

Oh I see, sorry I misunderstood. Yes a Slide would be what you want and not just a little thing to hold a few bags at the tail.

There is also a truck bed slide that appears to be rated at 4,000 lbs. (by Highway Products... refer to list upthread)

Love my heavy duty cargo glide, 2500lbs fully extended for full bed, love love love it. I have the lighter weight 1500 in my old dodge, 75% extension.

I have kept a replacement rake handle from Home Depot with a hook on the end of all my trucks, reach in and grab whatever I need and pull to the front. (Unless your bed is packed full that is) Little trick I learned from my dad years ago. Cost me less than $20.

I did have the option to buy a bed slide for $100 from a fire department down from me, they had sold the truck it was in. For me it cut too much clearance room out with my bed cover installed, I would not be able to put a Rubbermaid co trainer on the slide and slide it in with the cover closed. and with hauling firewood and things for camping I could see things falling off of it from time to time jamming up the slide. Passed the deal onto a buddy of mine that had a camper shell.

Never considered loading more than 1,500# since all I carry is camping/fishing/hunting gear in the back.
Cargoglides are nice units but I got a much better deal on the Bedslide.
100% extension would be nice but 75% gets you in reach of everything.
If you go with Bedslide, have them lube the bejeebers out of the latch mechanism. It gets really sluggish in cold weather.
Best of luck. I think you'll not regret it.

Yup...I can't reach more than 2-3 feet into my 8' bed. I keep it hanging on the left side on E-track hooks

Cargo glide was my alternate choice. I liked the idea of the full extension. One concern was the additional height of the bed once installed. I know I'm probably over thinking this BUT the tail gate on the Super Duty sits higher than the barn doors on my Suburban. Putting in 5 gal buckets of plaster and paint and buckets of tools isn't so bad on my Suburban. With the added height of the Super Duty tailgate it will require a little more oomph to get them up there. Every couple of inches higher is that much more oomph required. If you get a chance can you tell me the height from bed to top of the slide bed.. Thanks..

dsandfort: would you be able to do the same?

Appreciate the help!
