I've got a '66 with a VIN code of C for the trans, converted to floor shifter. I like the floor shift but I'd like to shorten the throw. Shifter is be up against the seat when the wife drives it, and pretty far forward in second or reverse. Stock bench seat. So my first question is what model of tran is the stock 3 speed and 2nd, what are my chances of finding a shorter throw shift mechanism for this?
First is synchro yes. It is a Hurst shift handle but I don't know the the mechanism is Hurst or not.
Maybe it is the Mastershift conversion? I'll have to crawl under and see what I can see. Good tip thanks.
If it's the Hurst set up, that's about as good as it gets. I don't think you'll find a Hurst lever on a different shifter. It would have to be a car 3 speed shifter, and it would be a cut and weld job.
