We're installing a Hurst Billet/Plus shifter in our otherwise stock '95 F-150, 5.0, M5OD. Incredibly, the shifter, # 391-5025, does not shift the trans into either 5th or reverse. [1-4 feel great.]
When we called Hurst to determine what we were doing wrong, they told us, "Oh, yeah, that shifter doesn't work right on some later M5ODs [It is listed as fitting '88-'96s] and you have to ship it back to us so we can remachine it."
Anyone ever run into this? Did the remachined shifter work to your satisfaction?
I was thinking the same thing....Never heard of a floor shift for a manual transmition. Your not talking about the 4 speed AOD automatic overdrive trans are you?
He's talking about the M5OD as he states 5 speed manual. They have performance shifters at summit for them but it looks like they don't fit too well.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
I've been trying to get a hold of one for a while...Jegs has them but have been back ordered since Dec 2001, and summit won't have them back in stock untill the end of this month.
Well, Hurst got the shifter back to us in less than a week and it seems to work well. We had put some blueing on the lower shifter lever to make it easy to see where they machined it, and they removed significant material in at least two places.
The new shifter has shorter throws and a much more solid feel than the original shifter.
