Sometimes have difficulty filling tank

I sometimes have difficulty filling my tank with diesel. This is a '95 ambulance with the 30gal tank in the middle-rear. Think box truck.

The diesel seems to sometimes settle in the middle of the hose where it doesn't drain quickly into the tank. It's exaperated by diesel that foams and also when the vehicle is leaning towards the pump (I *think* the second issue is more critical).

Any suggestions regarding how to solve this issue? There isn't a massive kink in the hose or anything like that. Maybe I have to replace the hose with something hard & straight, although I'm not sure what unless I custom weld a pipe.

This is a problem on most ambulance bodies and I have worked on them for decades. The hose has no good route because of the inner compartment ( most ambulances have a med locker in that deep well). Where does your vent hose connect?

OK, disregard that brain fart. There is clearly a vent (I must have been remembering a different vehicle). The vent and fill pipe are welded together near the inlet and bend slightly downward, annoyingly. I'll see if I can remove the vent hose and at least see if it's clear.

Somewhat relatedly I found out why my vehicle is leaning towards the pump: the suspension shackle is broken. I'll have some fun fixing that first.

try driving the driver side rear wheel up on a 4X4 or 6X6 block.
that is how i have been fueling my 88 F250 for the past 32 years. once up on the block it will take fuel as fast as i can put it in. down on the ground and it takes 1/2 hour to put 12 gallons in.

There's actually plenty of room down there, but the pipes are bent downwards.
