Either would probably be fine, but GM specs power steering fluid for Saginaw pumps. That's what I used.

Link to Desolate Motorsports kit? I'm guessing just available for the V8?

Any way, I'm using the Valvoline Power Steering Fluid that's supposed to be good for lots of PS applications. I'm using it in both vehicles I'm converted to a Saginaw and it works fine.

Finally, how do you get air out of the pump and lines? Is it the same as the Ford pump, where you just turn the steering wheel?

Same. With the front tires in the air I turn the wheels lock to lock with the engine off, topping off the level as needed. After doing that several times, I start the engine and repeat the process until no bubbles appear in the reservoir.

Thanks. As I suspected, just for the V8. And damn, at $549 they're awfully proud of that. I need to spend some more time at the junkyard checking out the vans!

Yea i didnt want to deal with digging through however many vans and junkyards so I bit the bullet. Should be installing this week.
