Well its here SO lets discuss it--- I think it looks great-- WIfey thinks its ugly. Some are disappointed that it wasn't solid axle-- others are not. I think it kinda looks like an FJ-- but like the old Broncos as well.
I like the fact that you can get 35 inch tires- beadlock rims- and swaybar disconnects with the ecoboost 2.7 ltr. The Sausquatch package seems to be the one to get. And it has a 10 speed Automatic trans with 4x4 in mind. with 7 G.O.A.T modes-- whatever the heck that is. I love love love the colors and the cut out doors. I hate the fact that it is being advertised as the wrangler killer-- alienating any group of people is never a good thing. I like the price :-)-- I can get one with what I want for 34k-- not that I will-- Wifey said maybe to 5 or 6 years--which isn't a NO- so Im good-- if they can come down below 25- i will own one.
I was on the site and there was a image of the frame and drive train. Showed a transverse mounted engine like in my Focus and a long driveshaft to the rear differential. Like some awd cars I have seen. Can't seem to build one the way I want it. Only build and price I could find was a 4dr sport in different trim levels. Not many options. Said I could reserve one but had to pay $100 and would be able to choose options later this fall. Then they would start building spring 2021. I'm going to back off until there is more information.
I see says the semi blind guy. They have the Bronco and then they have the Bronco Sport. Big difference. On the site the only one you can build and price is the sport. For the Bronco you need to reserve one with $100 and choose a dealer and then talk to the dealer what you want.
I like the looks of it but haven’t really looked at the specs. The profile etc looks like it took from the early IHC Scout and Bronco. Not a bad look. It looks like there are many options to configure it.
SO it looks like Jeep has countered with a hemi- 392 for the wrangler-- wonder if they will put that in the gladiator? That would change the gladiator from a yuppie toy- to a real truck in my book! One auto magazine guy said there might be a 302 in the Broncos future-- or even a diesel? Its all 99% speculation though.
I do love the look of the new Bronco, it appears that they really did stick with original design template (unlike the Blazer, puke) and I really dig it. Like others have said, they offer quite a few customizeable options geared for 4x4 enthusiasts so I think it will be a great hit. Really hoping the 302 makes an appearance in the near future, that will be a great selling point.
I am much more excited about the Jeep getting the V8 though, the announcement gave me the chills . I always felt like the mini-van V6 has been a reducing factor that prevented the wrangler the ideal off-road vehicle, and the hemi would sure fix that. My worry is that they'll treat it like an "SRT" upgrade instead of an option checkbox. Then it'll drive the cost up into "stupid" territory and keep the production numbers down, knocking out the chance for an average Joe to own one a few years down the road. I think it will be a perfect fit for the Gladiator though, that just make perfect sense!
I am still going to need feed back on real world 4x4 trail use of the front cv axle. Toyota has stuck with it and it has problems. Just need to see if the Ford cv is up to the task. I think the 2.7 is more than enough. They run it in the F150 and when I last spoke with Rollie he really liked it and the after market support for it was really great.
Yeah I agree-- can you imagine the parts flying off a jeep with a hemi spinning it? The military has been CV axles for years and it seems to work well for them-- My problem with the IFS on the exploder was it was a low hanging snow plow-- The new bronco looks allot higher and more sturdy.
