Yes I do...and I have a Lewis gun captured in 1942 at Singapore by the Japanese with several thousand rounds of .303 British ammo. Bring 'em on!

Somewhere around here I have a few rounds of .303 British. Never thought I'd have a use for them. Seriously Bill, you have been an enormous help to this newbie, and I bet there are thousands more. I don't know how you were able receive, store and recall all that information, but I'm glad I was able to soak a bit of it in. Happy trails. Tim

I have a No. 1 Mk III made by BSA in 1917. One of those beat to hell $75 jobs from Big 5 maybe 15-20 years ago. I enjoy shooting it, and I have some .303 standing by for the next trip to the range.

Right next to the "Damn I didn't notice that..." steel S Korean .30-'06 in en bloc clips in bandolers. "You can't shoot that here....."

I was watching the news one evening during the Menendez trial, one of the Menendez Brothers (don't recall if it was Lyle or Eric) was testifying they had gone to Big 5 to look at handguns.

I knew this was BS so I called a friend who was a watch commander at the WLA-PD station, told him the brother lied on the stand.

Next day, the DA called the Mendendez Brother a liar, saying that Big 5 had stopped selling handguns December 31, 1981.

In December 1981, I bought a 4 3/4" barrel Ruger Blackhawk in .45 LC. It was the last one they had and I got a deal on it.

February 1982 while on the way to pick it up at the Santa Monica store (after 30 day CA waiting period expired), I got a ticket from a sheriff's deputy for making a "Califonia stop."

I had left Crenshaw Motors a bit early, the sheriff was parked at a donut shop (!) at Overhill and Slauson. I had never forgotten this incident which branded the Menendez brother a liar.

WWII era .303 British. Does it still go "bang"? A lot of it depends on storage conditions over the years.

I suspect the .303 shells are from WWI, because they're stamped WRACo...Winchester Repeating Arms Co.

Well I suppose nothin' says "Get Off My Lawn!" quite like a Lewis gun, but I'd want to pull down a few of those WWI cartridges and make sure the powder hasn't deteriorated, brass splits, or internal corrosion. It's still commercially loaded by the ammunition manufacturers. Old ammo is collectable too, sometimes. Sell it for a small but useful profit, and buy fresh.

Hey Bill, I am glad that you are well and you are looking back in here. It would be a shame if you withdraw from the forum here. I think many of the users miss you here.
I am glad that I was allowed to get to know you personally , that would not be possible in the new (Corona) time, at the moment we cannot come to you in Califonia.
We have planned it for next year, but no one currently knows whether it will work.
I tried to find you on Facebook, but unfortunately it didn't work . Would like to get in touch with you to know if you are doing well.

Best wishes from Germany Bill, take care of yourself !!

Lars

Many MANY Thanks to you Bill for all your input and assistance.
Though I never directly asked your assistance, I have been provided answers, received diagrams & part numbers from various replies you've made on numerous posts so I have been a recipient of your expertise vicariously many times over.
I will miss your presence in thes forums.
Wishing you well, and be safe - Pete
