2.7 reliablity?

Wondering if anybody it putting high miles on their 2.7EB yet? Any common issues? Did the timing chain problem ever get resolved (or was it even an issue on these)? Had a 2014 3.5L EB that the chains went bad before 100k which was a bummer. Basically looking towards the future and trying to decide if I want to trade in the '18 around 100k or run it high like I'm doing with my '11.

There's a 2.7 on the other F150 forum that is about ready to turn 400K miles.

The 2.7 is pretty immune to the timing chain issues and overall there is very few issues with that platform.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I seem to remember reading that the block of the 2.7 is built more like a diesel block.

You are correct. Many wondered if it was designed to be a diesel, or to later use technology like Mazda's SkyActive that runs as a gasoline compression ignition engine once it's warmed up.

The 2.7 EB is a very stout little motor. CG block and 6-bolt main bearings. It is built to last.

Good to hear. I knew it wasn't as prone to some issues as the 3.5L but glad that at least some are starting to get some really high mileages on it!
