Looking for help on a 2000 5.4L Triton engine. I found an antifreeze leak under my truck and had a hell of a time finding where it was coming from. I looked at the heater tubes running into the firewall and checked the freeze plugs. Both areas were dry. Also followed the tubes from the radiator as far as I could and found no leaks. Then I happened to catch some sun light reflecting off liquid on top of the block just under the alternator. BINGO. Photos below. I also noticed that the leak stops when the truck is shut off. I am looking for suggestions on what to investigate before I begin the trek of pulling everything apart. Thanks in advance for the help.
Time for a intake manifold replacement and gaskets.
Yup, after you pointed that out I went to Youtube and watched some videos. You nailed it! The leak on my engine seems to be coming from the driver side at the front, just like the videos. Thanks, I appreciate it.
It looks like you have the aluminum crossover tube. On mine, the plastic around the seal in the plastic manifold had broken away so there was no way to seal it up with just the o-ring. I ended up replacing the manifold.
