Backup camera issues

Backup camera issues

I have a 2014 f-250 lariat then backup camera is having issues. Sometime it works sometimes I get the black camera unavailable screen and sometimes I get the image revered on the screen. I have tried to search the internet for answers but have come up empty aside from the camera possibly needing to be replaced. I was wondering if anyone else had these issues and if they had solved them. I can change out the camera but wanted to see if anyone on here had any advice.

Have you checked and maybe cleaned the connector by the spare tire? Or checked the tailgate harness?

Replacement camera from Ford is not cheap now days.
