460 Crate

I recently purchased a project truck (1979 F250 4X4) that had the 351M in it. Yanked the engine and junked it so I could swap in a 460. I'm not looking for a race engine; however, I want to leave my options open for any future upgrades to the engine. In the meantime, I just want a 460 that is a good daily driver with a little punch to it.

Are there any reputable companies out there who offer long blocks for a reasonable price ($2k)?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I don't know anyone who builds for $2k, but for $250-400 you can pick up a decent engine out of most salvage yards and build it the way you want it. Many will only require a cam/lifters and new pistons and bearings. Grind and polish the crank, new bearings and rings and you got yourself a decent engine! The power is kind of built in with 460's due to the size, and you can decide on compression with the new pistons.
