Firing order is: 1-5-3-6-2-4
Rotation is CW
The location of #1 is critical on a PIP distributor, it SHOULD be marked on the cap. If it is not, the electronics pigtail comes out of the distributor immediately beneath post #4. Post #1 is the one just to the front of it.

Just curious, but is that the handle you want to use on a Ford site?

Cute --- now fill in your signature with that explaination for the "ihatefords" name so you don't get cr*p forever!

I don't know what PIP stands for either, but curious......

4.0 you mean 4.9 right
firing order is 153624 rule of thumb 15 to young
36 to old

PIP = profile ignition pickup. Ford's acronym for the distributor with the crank position sensor built into it.

yes i did mean 4.9. my bad. thank you for filling me in on the pip question. got her runnin, but is chuggin when drivin in every gear. have everything in it's proper place. 15 too young 36 too old 24 just right.(good one). unhooked egr(plugged vacuum line) ran better for awhile but doin it again. new cap rotor plugs wires and ignition module. can hear some sort of ticking but not sure if it's from any of the above mentioned parts. no plug wires touching. any suggestions would be great. besides changin my handle.......hehehehe

timing may be off a few degrees (it will still run)\

A lil trick until you can get a timing light on it, Loose the distributor assembly until it turns (but not to loose, just so it it is snug) and turn it until it runs smoother then tighten it back up
