On the vent window post parts are there one or two of those thin shims.I have seen where there is two required. One below the tear drop and then another above the thick collar?I have taken several of these apart and found different set ups.I am just wondering exactly what part these thin shims play in the pivot post anyway?I know there are a lot of threads on this issue.
to my best recollection, those shims make up for any tolerance differences between the window and frame, and provide a "flat' pivoting/rotational area between the window's frame and door frame & gasket.
I saved these pics from one of the past threads, not sure which one. This arrangement makes sense to me, except that I think the brass shim should go above the thick round spacer, to reduce friction. Putting one brass shim above the round spacer, and one below the teardrop, sure couldn't hurt anything. (The screwdriver in the one pic represents the bottom of the window frame)
I did mine yesterday passenger side. My luck, already lost the brass shims and I do this kind of work with cardboard on the floor and still things grow legs? Anyways I don't see any effects with or with out them. And then this hasn't been opened in 50 yrs...
