Hello all, I'm new on this particular forum and have migrated from the 6.9/7.3 idi forum. I currently drive a 1985 Ford F250 with the 6.9 idi. I found today a 1996 F250HD with a 7.3 Powerstroke. Its owned by the original purchaser and has 75k original miles. In my opinion it is next to mint condition. It was used as a private plow truck at a nursery and they never salted so rust is very minimal. It had a new tranny put in 300 miles ago (E4OD). The guy is asking $16.5k, do you think this is a fair price with the plow or is he high? I dont plan on using the plow which is an older 8ft western straight blade. Is there any money to be made off selling that?
Is it 4x Rc,sc,cc? That's a lot of cash but low miles. Personally I'm not a buyer in that market. Maybe it's ok but it's still old and there are a lot of rubber parts that deteoriate even just sitting. The bigger question is how much idle time and just moving a little and shut off did it do. I'm not buying creampuff status even if "low miles".
I'm not there so maybe it's worth it to you. Ultimately that has to be a question only you can answer.
Sorry I'm not more help.

It's a EC 4x4 LB. That's true, I'm going for a drive today in it and see if I can talk him down and maybe take the plow out of the deal since I dont need it.
It seems that everyone is going crazy on the OBS truck prices. Personally I would not give that much for a 15 year old truck, even though I love mine. In the end, you are the only one that can make that decision. Best of luck on what you decide.

I think I could talk him down quite a bit because he admitted he priced it high to ward away anyone who may be buying it to beat on because it's his only truck he ever bought new and is having a hard time letting it go.
You can do FAR better for $15k. These trucks were designed in the 1970s. IMO, keep the IDI, slap a turbocharger on it and get something else to beat around town in unless you already have that.
This is an updated picture of the truck I am currently looking at purchasing. To me it seems pretty clean for 24 years old. I also attached the picture of the few rust spot
For $16.5k for a rust truck, no way I would buy something that old that expensive. It's your $$ but word of advise theres cleaner rust free trucks for less than 10k in my area. Low mileage at close to 24 years almost never equates to good IMO.
