Just wanted to introduce myself. I am the proud owner of a 2002 Limited with the v10. I would have loved the 7.3 but just could not justify the extra cost of the diesel. I picked this one up for 8K with 174K miles with zero rust and a few minor issues. I've had it for about 9 months now and have been lurking here reading posts and learning some things before doing any posting. Here is what I've done this far:
New Ford steering wheel
Part # 2L3Z-3600-EAA was 265.00 when i bought it and was surprised how much it has gone up
New Ford door lock actuators
Part # 6L3Z-25218A42-AA
Part # 6L3Z-25218A43-AA
Rebuilt the rear traction lock
Part # YGA-1601 10.5 Clutch set
Part # 8C3Z-4215-D OEM spider gears
Part # AFE-46-70022-WL AFE diff cover
Banks Monster cat back exhaust
I have the Cary Towery complete suspension setup at my shop ready to install. I stayed with 33" tire option to keep the truck lower. i opted for the dual front Bilsteins and dual front stabilizers. Will keep you posed on the progress.
Honorable mention:
Repaired rear windows one was a bad motor and the other was a broken wire.
Upgraded the radio, backup camera, Apple car play (gotta have some tunes)
New Tires
Replaced the flipper mirrors with the tow version
I am looking forward to getting the suspension replaced!
How much bigger than the stock 3" is the Banks Monster cat back? How is the sound, these V-10s can be a challenge to get a nice exhaust note. Did you feel any seat of the pants benefit from the cat back?
I have the Banks headers and Y pipe with the factory piping and either the 3030XL muffler or straight pipe (there's a story to that....).
It as a deeper rumble to it without being annoying. I am also pleased to say there is no droning with this setup. Overall i am very pleased with the sound. I would love to do the headers et al but I am not ready to suffer through the broken stud saga just yet.
I want to say the exhaust is 3 1/2" with a 4" tip on it.
