If you have the key less ignition with the push button start, even if the truck is locked if the key is in your pocket when you go to open the tailgate it will open, since it recognizes that you have the key.

Sure as s h i t. Thanks!! Off my list. Looked in the owners manual and it would have been nice to have this mentioned. Coming from an old simple XLT truck... : )
I've been more than happy with my 2020, can't say enough good things about the 7.3.
The 10sp seems to randomly decide to hesitate, usually under less than ideal scenarios, like turning left on a busy 4 lane street. Other than that it's been great.
My mother's 2020 1.5l Escape (which she bought at the same time I bought my truck) on the other hand is a different story.
She's owned it less than two weeks, with 263 miles on it. Randomly shutoff at a busy intersection and it refused to restart.
Ford Roadside took over 5 hours to come pick it up, they are a total joke. It would have been quicker for me to grab my trailer.
Dealers had it nearly a week without any clue. Currently fighting with them to get her swapped into a 2.0l version or an Edge.
Other than dead back up cameras, no issues so far. 3300 miles on my 2020 6.7.
The overall build quality is good but there are a few glaring things. The paint job is ok but not good for a vehicle that msrp’s for $70k. The chrome on the bumpers is chincy too. Not mirror shiny like my silverado was.
The fit and finish is good overall. I just wish ford would elevate the interior bits to match the price of the vehicle. They are routinely critiqued for this by the auto reviewers, and I agree. Not flashy, just higher quality. No more hard plastic door pieces (1/2 of it is soft touch now....) and more quality parts. Having owned a porsche and currently own a late model Mercedes, that is what I expect
for a 70k truck. The platinum and king ranch don’t even come close , so I just stuck with the lariat and kept the $$$ in my pocket instead.
The steering will definitely be upgraded but has gotten much better. It was terrible the first 1,000 miles or so.
Under 2000k on my 7.3 and have the same thing with the transmission. Gets hung up in like 2nd or 3rd and then it jumps. Happens early in a drive and then it goes away. Need to take her in and get it checked it out.

struggled with this for the first 2 weeks I had mine. Everyday I thought I’d walk out to a missing tailgate till the light bulb moment came and I took the key out of my pocket
Had the TCM reflashed with the updated software and it goes good now. I do have brake noise under light braking and possibly a bad anti vibration spring clip. Sounds like cat running around with a bell. I can shake the caliper and make the noise. Need to take it in soon to have brakes looked over otherwise they work great. Just past 7500 now. No other issues.
Except for the bed camera, the truck has mechanically been great. I fixed the camera by cycling the plug a few times.
My big gripe is the waviness of the body panels and poor paint quality. When my wife and I went to pick it up after delivery, neither of us wanted to accept it. To me, it looked like it had been side-swiped on both sides, then a lousy job of repairing it. I’ll admit that we own a few show vehicles, and I paint too, so we’re kinda picky. But, the truck looks bad. Being a black truck certainly doesn’t help either.
After a discussion with the salesman, he convinced me that it had not been damaged. After that, my wife and I walked the lot putting a critical eye of quite a few trucks. Some were better than others, but they all looked bad to some degree. I guess the aluminum panels are part of the issue with the waviness, but there’s no excuse for the orange peel. A lot of oranges are smoother than my truck. I gave thought to cutting and buffing it. But I’m worried that will make the wavy panels look even worse. Every time I wash the truck, I think about striping it, and doing a decent paint job.
I have had my 2020 back to the dealership twice already and it has less that 1K miles on it. When the truck was new apparently they damaged the rear bumper in transit, They replaced the bumper and never disclosed it to me when I bought it. Well now that is where the fun begins. I noticed that none of the rear sensors were working and at 300 miles several codes started dropping on the dash. Come to find out (a week after I brought it in for repairs) they put the wrong wire harness on it when they replaced the bumper. I kindly asked how did that happen, this is when I find out they replaced the bumper when it was new. Then I am told of damage to the truck because of the bumper so it gets sent to paint and body. I finally get the truck back after 10 days and all seems good. Another 300 miles later the rear sensors don't work again. They now are telling me one of the sensors is bad and it is making them all flake out. The good news, they gave me a nice F250 loaner the bad news is I am about fed up with them. You drop 75K plus on a truck it should work perfect and crap like this should not happen. Seems like the quality is on a down hill slide for sure.
I can say I have owned 4 Ford trucks (two F150's and two F250's) and I made the mistake of getting rid of my 2017 F250 for this 2020 F250. So far it is the biggest mistake I have ever made when purchasing a vehicle. The other 3 were rock solid and had made me a FORD lover for sure. This one truck is changing my mind.
Other items I have noticed between the 2017 and 2020 in case you are wondering. Both Platinum models
- No more lights in the bottom of the door entrance. The 2017 Platinum used to light up...gone in the 2020
- No more ability to change the ambient light color inside the truck. I know it is minor but I really liked that...not to mention the kids loved it! Another feature removed in the 2020
- The truck shifts like sh$t with the 10 speed. I realize it is supposed to "learn" but man is it annoying. Shifts hard especially in lower gears and it is not consistent at all. Worse than driving with someone who doesn't know how to drive a standard.
- The truck will randomly lose power in 1st and second gear...usually when I need it most. Again related to the transmission learning I assume but dangerous and annoying both
- Not a fan of the new headlights they seem a lot less bright than the ones on the 2017.
- The only good thing I have found is the MPG seemed to have increased pretty significantly from 2017 to 2020. Somewhere in the range of 2mpg+ if I am driving on the highway and being nice to it.
