Vans are trucks too, so I hope we can be friends

Hi, I'm Gomer from Midwest Vans Ltd. I'm a van guy, but vans are trucks too. My first was a 1971 E-250 because I needed a place to live! I've had a 1980 E-350 with a 351M, a 1983 E-150 that by the time I got rid of it it's nickname was "Rolling Tetanus " due to the extreme rust, and a 1978 E-350 with a 460. I currently have a 1979 E-250 Quadravan (Pathfinder conversion) with a 1986 body and a 460 with a Holley, a 1991 E-150 high top with a bad motor, and a 1985 E-150 Club Wagon with no motor or transmission, but a really clean body. I just acquired the '85 and I recently acquired a 5.0 HO motor with transmission that I was told came from a 1985 Cougar. That project is what brought me here. I am going to have questions about putting the 5.0 HO into the '85 Club wagon, whether to use the transmission that came with the motor, or the trans from the '91 high top, and eventually what's involved with putting the '91 body on the '79 Quadravan. But hey, first things first. Let's start with the 5.0 HO into the '85 Club Wagon. So far my research in various forums has told me that the "85 Cougar did not likely originally come with an HO motor, it was probably a later upgrade that someone did. I found the numbers on the back of the intake but I can only read the bottom half of the numbers, the tops seem to be worn away smooth. I found some other casting numbers in several places, and have learned there are a few more to find, but I need to know how to determine what components, such as EEC, harness, etc I will need to get to make this work. I could also use some direction on which forum is best to post these questions to get the best response.

Thanks
Gomer

We like the vans here too. Scroll the main forums page down about halfway and you'll see the "Ford Vans and other vehicles" section.

Welcome aboard!
