A previous Chevy fan who bought a 1992 Ford F-150 XLT 4+4 with a straight 6 and the truck is wonderfull. I spent a few dollars on a new 40-over ,heads- shaved etc. straight 6 ( I do a lot of towing) and was very impressed and so Ive purchased a 1985 E-350 Ambulance with a 460(71,000 miles) a 1994 F-150 XLT x-tra cab 4+4 ( 5.0 ) and my last purchase was a 1979 Econoline 350 4+4 van with a 460 ( 68,000 miles) I'm planning on junkin the van body and putting the x-tra cab body on it , It has dana axles with the limited slip diff already and the frame is very beefy (perfect for towing) My question is......... the motor. Any coments on what I should do..... Beef up the 302 Fuel "infected" go with the 460(wich I've already aquired enough parts for an impressive motor build-up) Straight-6 IT or , i forgot, i have also a 1989 Econoline conversion van with I think, a 351(not sure if it is) I bought it for 50 bucks drove it to the ol' mans and forgat about it. A friend tells me to put 351 heads(modified with 2.02 valves) on the 302 with the roller cam package, use my MSD and other parts I've aquired and i should be plenty happy with the towing power. What about the big block power 460??? Any ideas. The trucks have A4OD's in 'em and the ambulance and 350 van both have c-6's. Any ideas on those as well.
Ya kind of got the picture here I hope . Bottom line is I'd like a daily driver truck for my buissness that will tow whatever I'd like wherever I need to go.
