7 Pin Trailer Plug
The van is factory wired for towing.
I have a brake controller and cable to connect in the cab.
The issue is at the rear end.
I have a factory 4 way plug.
It's connected to a flat, two row plug at the frame.
That plug has 10 wires going in to it.
I can plug the 4 way into the connection on the 7 way. That leaves a few wires to connect to the factory wires.
After much searching, I cannot find a wire diagram that identifies these wires.
None of the diagrams I have found identifies them.
eTrailer suggested I just buy a kit, with basically bypasses it all.
Is there anyone here who can help with the id of these factory wires, or offer suggestions?
On a side note, a fuse id guid I down loaded some time back, identifies one of the relays in the under hood fuse as the relay for the starter relay (diesel only)
I moved it to the position for charging a trailer battery, figuring I didn't need it...not so. It powers the starter relay in the gas van as well.
TIA.
The wires on the factory connection just won't pan out.
On a side note, I was redoing two grounds to the frame, one of which went to the fuel pump diver, as the wires looked like they were discolored due to a high draw.
The ground that was not connected to the pump driver, looked very dark. I followed it back to the loom in order to find some clean stands, and in the loom, it looked as if the wire had melted.
When I opened the bundle, there were two insulated wires, and the ground looked like a wire that had burnt up from to many amps.
It turns out, the ground wire had no insulation, and was wrapped in a foil type tape. I'd not seen this before on a vehicle.
When I get the time, I intend to follow it to the front of the van to see what it is from.
