im in the process of hooking up a brake controller and noticed the factory 7 way rv style plug has all seven wires already goin into it. so i checked the fuses to see if there was and auxilary power, etc. and there was a fuse in the spot were it needed to be, so my question is, is the truck half way wired up for the brake controller? thank you seth
If you have a factory 7 way plug your truck is ready to tow. All you have to do is mount a brake controller and plug it under the dash. No fuses, no wires, you are ready.
really, sweet. ya i just went out and looked under the dash and sure enough i saw the plug. then i remembered seeing some wires and a plug in a bag in my glove box and sure enough there was the other end of the plug, the relays needed and some directions. thanks for the help, i was about to start running my own wires
I didn't have the 7 way on my 1999 F150... Uhaul had me running wires too until I realized they were clueless. They did end up selling me all the wire I would have needed, which I ended up using for other purposes. If you don't have the 7 way, you only have to wire 18" under the rear bumper. But the cab side is prewired so no worries
k i got it all figured out, i went to hook up to the gooseneck and everything was working. then i tried the brakes and nothing. i checked my connections with a test light and everything was working. then i tested the the brake control prong on the connector and there was no power. i found out that the wire rotted away right where it enters the plug and i need to be able to extract the connector. is there any way i can do this with gettin a pin extractor or whatever kind of tool needed? thanks seth
