06 E350 Cargo Trailer Wiring

I just picked up an 06 E350 standard length Cargo van today. 5.4, 3.73's and the power option package. I have been a ford guy forever and have an 03 F250 and an o4 F350 regular cab trucks, I am very familiar with the F series workings.... but my E van has only a step bumper and the 4-pin plug. I am going to put a class 4 hitch on it this weekend but I don't see the typical "wire to nowhere" under there like the F trucks have. I even have an F series pigtail and plug setup...

Sorry for all the typing- basically my question is this. Is there the standard wire to the back of the van like all SD F series have, and I am just missing seeing it.... or do I have to wire it from the front back on my own? I need to wire it for the standard 7 pin RV plug that all the F series have. My trailers have them already.... yikes !!! Help !!!

Click on my name and then click on "find all posts by al_e._gator" and you'll find several discussions on this. The wire to nowhere you mentioned should be near the rear axle, if you have it at all . You'll see what I mean after you read the other threads.

Thanks. I did the search and got a lot of data back. Today I spent some time under there and the other plug does not exist. I will have to run the 2 wires back and then pick up the ground. I was reading your post from December of 2004 where you discuss finding and opening the C110 plug and adding the 2 wires :

"If you disconnect the two halves of C110 the four corner pins (or spaces for pins) are 1, 9, 34 and 42. Pin 1 is Brakes, pin 9 is battery and pin 34 is reverse. These numbers should be labeled on the housing or orange rubber insulation. You need enough 12 gauge stranded wire to reach the rear bumper of the van in three different colors. I forget the color code but I followed the standard for trailer wires..."

*** I don't even know where that plug is !!!! Can you at least point me to that? I do have a brake controller and will look for the pigtail in the driver panel by the e-brake.

I don't know why they dont wire every van for that plug. Anyway, thanks for the info. If you can, please point me to that C110 location on the vehicle so I can start to "plan" for the other 2 wires run to the bumper. I need to tow next week and this has to be done !!

Thanks!!!

If you crawl under teh van at the drivers door you should see a main harness from the fuse/relay panel running doen the driver's side frame rail. Near the firewall, directly under the pedal area there will be a rectangular 42 pin connector that is held together with a bolt through the center. The half connector from the front of the van should use all or nearly all of the pins. The half going to the rear will only use about 75% of the pins. Make sure you check your fuse/realy panel for the towing fuses and relays. Mine were already installed, but your's may not be. Your owner's manual can tell you which ones to look for. Bear in mind that all this information is from the 04 Shop Manual, the 06 could be different. If you have anymore questions, I be more than happy to try answering them. Good Luck.
