Transfer case plug replacements

Transfer case plug replacements
Need to change out my transfer case fluid. My fill/drain plugs on my transfer case are badly rusted. Anyone have any recommendations for replacements? I know Ford does not offer replacements for them.

McMaster-Carr is the place to go. Look under threaded pipe plugs and select the one that you want. Your transfer case plugs are probably OK. The surface rust comes off with a wire brush.

On the BW1356's it was just NPT. I'd always replace with steel plugs from the hardware store. Obviously this isn't fantastic for your concerns on corrosion, but I liked the square male head.
Also on the 1356's everyone used a 3/8" sq drive on the factory plugs but they were actually 10mm. You can order 10mm sq drain plug sockets....but is the 271/273 hex? I can't recall

Yep it is a hex head. I will probably order some aluminum plugs. That's a good idea. I use a 10MM hex on them but the one is just starting to get so corroded it is wobbley.
