Interior lights go off in a few seconds after the doors are closed . Then in about two or three minutes the lights come back on and cycle back off and on regardless if the theft is set or not. Also the running board lights come on along with the interior?? Have reset the computer by taking off the battery terminal with no luck. Also the door ajar light in not on. Any one know what would cause this? 2000 Limited 4x4 V-10
I think i may have solved the problem.I parked the vehicle right in front of my front door. I have a wireless Home security system that may have been interfering with the computer frequency. Just my theory, i parked the car in the driveway, away from the house, and it stopped. Now i am worried i won't be able to close it in my garage which is attached to my home.
Thanks anyway!!
Was it raining when you noticed the lights cycling? And if so, was it dry when the problem ceased? I replaced all 6 of the door ajar switches in my 2001. The Ford parts guy told me they've had a lot of problems with the older switches ... and not just in the Excursion, but in other models, too.
If the problem reappears on mine, I've got a wiring diagram all laid out to install a bank of on-off switches beneath the dashboard, and will tie them in to the appropriate wires coming off the GEM. At the very least, I'll be able to narrow it down afterwards to exactly which door ajar switch is giving me a problem.
Didn't your Ex interior lights come on when you remotely unlocked the doors? I think that's a computer function and could explain the on/off problem that Warhorse2004 is having.
Problem re appeared .must be moisture in one of the doors. Does any one have instructions on replacing the switch.I have changed a Taurus and it was a pain in the butt. Very tight area to work in. Hope they are easier.I just hope the computer is not messed up and it's not the door sensors

DOH!! No ^%$%#! What was I thinking!? Ya know, I'm sittin' hear readin' all of this wondering how in the heck a security system could be causing all of this but you just nailed it on the head.

I do know my security system transmits a signal because it is WIRELESS just as the key fob's on the excursion transmits a signal WIRELESSLY also. That is why i was concerned it may have been on a simular frequency. Especially since my wireless home security system randomly changes frequency's .I have key fobs that will activate my system from two houses away.Fequency could still be an issue if someone could tell me different please tell me.
It was just a guess!!!
