I need some advice.. I was pulling with my 94 powerstroke when the clutch started slipping. I drove it home and put a new clutch in it. ( the old one did'nt look bad) -Except the dual mass-
Now it still does the same thing. It grabs on take off but brakes loose in the upper gears at about 1500 rpm if I push it Is their a spec. to measure th dual mass flywheel? It looked brand knew but I don't know if its been surfaced before. I am going to put in the conversion to get rid of the dual mass if I can't figure anything else out. Can someone give me any ideas or hint of things to check??
dmfw's will always look to be in good shape. I have only seen a couple that will develop heat marks or any other obvious wear. The free play in the dmfw should not be more than 3/4" or less than 5/8". Anything above or below indicates a dead dmfw. As for the sled pulling, you will continue to have problems running a dmfw setup. I have dealt with several sled pullers and you will need a solid flywheel along with a beefed up clutch if you plan to continue sled pulling on a regular basis.
