Body lift problems! Please help

Hope that someone can shed some light on issue/issues that resulted on adding my 2" body lift. I have an 87 f250 2wd 6.9 automatic extended cab. A friend and I lifted the cab (it sucked) with a 2" body lift kit. Afterwards I went to pull it out of the garage and noticed my wheels locked and could not shift. The shift lever was locked in what appeared to be parked but the truck is in neutral. The keys could not switch into accessories. The embarrassing thing is my friend had to pull my truck out of the garage with his new 3500 bighorn. For some reason the auto tranny was in neutral. I know I left it in park but it being in neutral helped out. Any thoughts what could have happened? Very frustrating!

Shift linkage is too tight, you'll need to adjust it, hopefully it is adjustable, or else you may have to cut and weld to extend one of the rods.

x2

Start by disconnecting the transmission from the linkage. Make sure the transmission and shift lever are both in Park. Then adjust the shift linkage to snugly fit the transmission.

It worked. I made the adjustment and extended it at its max and it work. First took a little effort to get it to shift. Thanks guys for the input.

Although I'm generally not a fan of body lifts, all the headaches you skip with front end alignments it's probably not a bad route.

Theses not much aftermarket for the older 2wd front ends so if you did two inch coil spacers you'd probably have to get creative to get the camber back under control. More than likely you'd have to create custom axle pivot brackets like I did on my 85 because I was too cheap to spend the $200 at the time, I don't think they offer them aftermarket for the 2wd's

Yeah i didnt think the 4wd drop brackets would adapt to do a suspension lift. I ended up putting a leveling kit on it too. Then will probably will do a add a leaf in the back. Doing all this just to get this truck to have a little better stance.
