Engine cooling mod - could be good, could be bad

Saw this today. Drops temps by 20 degrees by opening the thermostat earlier. Could be good for obvious reasons, but could be bad if it throws a code for emissions related stuff since regen start is associated with achieving engine operating temps which may or may not happen with this mid.

thoughts?

Without looking at the video...........it will definitely cool your pocketbook by 20 degrees. As far as benefiting your engine..........*MOST* modern engines are designed to run hot, for emissions and efficiency.

I am going to have to watch that. I know my fan doesn't come on until the engine is real hot (by my standards) I think 235 degrees.

225° F is the new 190° F.

Allowing higher temps will more likely result in passive regens. At least for me, since I tow most of the time.

my cooling fan will sometimes come on at 225F, but due to oil temps I would assume. Last time that happened the oil was about 235F if I recall so the fan came on.

But normally the coolant has to be around 230F before the fan kicks on high.
