1. my door chime is on as soon as the door opens. even with no key inside the ignition lock.
2. is i try to lock/unlock the doors nothing happens besides the domelight comes on.
3. when rolling the windows down or up (power windows) the red brake warning light in the dash comes on.
i i cocod imagine that there is a short somewhere but i dont know where and how to start searching.
Any wetness in the floorboard under the driver's side floor mat? Ever notice any changes after it rains? Those trucks are famous for windshield leaks also that leak into the fuse box and the GEM module.

got it for a week only now so did not experience a difference with the weather yet.
It changes when i open and close the door some times, so the chime goes away or the brake warning does not appear with the window action. But then pushing the ebrake down also does not light the warning up.
im gonna pull the door panel and check for PO hacks i think
For issues 1 and 2 I dealt with that on a 97 expedition and it turned out the key insertion contacts in the ignition cylinder were shorted together. This made the system think there was always a key inserted even when there wasn't. As a safety feature you cannot lock the doors with the key inserted which is why the electric locks are disabled. I don't know if issue #3 can be related in some way or if it's just a separate issue altogether.

really? i cant lock the doors from inside as long as my key is inserted? so why do they have the lock side of the button? 😅
edit: when i press unlock the chime goes on with the domelight and also the door ajar and some other warning lights.
sometimes the doorchime is off without the key but stays on after i had it in once.

You didn't say from inside in your original post. Most people that have issues where the doors won't lock are on the outside pressing the lock button on their FOB.

You're right - my fault. I dont have a FOB, sitting inside, want to unlock the passenger door but instead of unlocking it starts to chime, the domelight clicks on and of again, Water in Fuel, Door Ajar und other Lights come up.
Im gonna get the Fuse panel and the GEM off and inspect it maybe its corroded cause of water and im gonna try to clean and seal it wit dielectric grease at the contacts.
Good idea on the GEM and the fuse box. It's a very common problem with those year trucks. The GEM controls most of those "features" you are having problems with.

The better solution is to have the windshield re-sealed to keep the water out so this doesn't happen again. If there's any water in the GEM it usually dries out in about a week, give or take.

Yeah i saw multiple posts goint straight to this and want to try it out.

Sure that would be the reason then but first i want to make sure water inside there is the problem, because i did not mention any leaks somewhere and dont want to waste money on a new windshield/resealing it
