2000 ford excursion trailer lights half working

My trailer lights only light up half when connected its a 7 pin connector.. Only the left blinker and brake light, and the 2 front marker lights work... The right brake and turn does not. I changed the 1 7a fuse in the engine that wasn't working and still the same outcome. My hitch connecter has a built in tester and only the TM light lights up.... I have the manual and have checked every fuse associated with the towing and they were all fine.... I would start looking into wires but i have seen on other threads that it may be something in the engine.... Could it be some other connection.... I know its my truck and not the trailer and I'm not the only owner so if something was changed i dont know..... Thanks

If you do a search, there is a thread from just last month titled "2000 Excursion - No Trailer Lights". I had the exact same problem you're having now. I found the problem was with the plug where it connects to the back of the 7 pin connector. I removed the 7 pin connector from the metal bracket/housing below the bumper. Then pulled the wiring plug from the truck out of the connector and cleaned everything. I also used lots of dielectric grease when putting everything back in place. I also used a small flat screwdriver to "adjust" the metal contacts in the female part of the 7 pin connector. (They weren't making very solid contact from 20 years of male plugs being connected/disconnected.)

Btw, when you remove the 7 pin connector & wiring plug from the metal bracket... separate them and use a multimeter to check voltage there. Everything was reading fine there so I knew the problem was between the wiring plug and the 7 pin connector.

You can do a google image search for "Ford 7 pin trailer connector" to see which terminal is for which light circuit. I did instead of guessing and it worked out great
