I am pretty sure the shop I had do the work drilled into the frame to mount the brackets. I can verify ...?

I have never had the 480 but it said "next gen" on the 485s so I figured what the heck. Seems to fill up a 37" tire from 15 to 45 psi in 2-3 mins.
OK, I think I know what the difference is.
The 480 is a 100% duty cycle rated at 100 psi
The 485 is a 100% duty cycle rated at 200 psi

It's this:

https://www.viaircorp.com/dual-packs/dual480c

vs this:

https://www.viaircorp.com/new/485c-gen2-dual-value-pack

They both appear to be 200psi, just one has language about how it's "next gen" and supposedly better

I listed the main difference above. It is 100% duty cycle at 200 psi versus 50% duty cycle at 200 psi. There is also a very minimal CFM increase, .1 - .2 cfm average increase

I don't have air bags or air horn, etc, but for the truck and camper tires, I use this portable DeWalt inflator.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-2...20IB/305709688

If it does what you need, it's much more inexpensive and simpler.

That's great for inflating pool toys and basketballs. For anything else, like tires, do not get those crappy portable compressors that plug into 12V (cigarette lighter). Get one that properly attaches directly to the battery. You can get inexpensive portable compressors for less than $100 that have proper, direct-to-battery connections. VIair 88P is one such example, but there are others. If your compressor features the 12V plug, keep shopping.

I have been thinking about making another one and sinking the gauges in further.

Thats some quality craftsmanship there man, well done! Any details on how you built that gauge mount?

Read the reviews on the DeWalt inflator before you make such comments. You might be surprised. It runs off of a DeWalt 20v battery as well as 12 volt so there is greater portability away from the truck, and up to 160 pounds inflation.

I happily stand by my comments, regardless of the DeWalt fan boys out there (I like DeWalt stuff, too). If you want a compressor for anything beyond air mattresses, don't be running it through your vehicle's 12V accessory socket. Run it directly from the battery.

Thanks Tricon! I just got another gauge pod delivered yesterday and plan on doing a 2.0 version where the gauges sit deeper into the pod. I plan on taking pictures through all of the steps and do a write up on how to go about building one. It will probably be a month or two.

Thanks to Anthony Ramos (AR Fabrication) for getting the dual compressor mounting unit to me! Here's a few shots of my pre-assembly yesterday in my garage.
AR's mount and the Viair combination are really high quality. I can't wait to get it all in and working - I'll post progress here periodically.

One thing I have to say is that everything fits perfectly on the mounts. The compressor holes and the tank mount are spot on which makes this trial assembly a cinch.

This looks like a nice setup. I was unable to find AR Fabrication on the web. Can you provide a link?

Looking forward to install pix!

Anthony is selling the kits through facebook marketplace. If you can't (or don't want to) go there, let me know and I'll see if Anthony has an alternative communication method.
