Yes, it fixed it. I only did it once.
To be clear, I only filled the overflow tank and did the revving thing and then drove around a while in sport mode to keep the revs up higher than normal...nothing else.
I did not vacuum fill the system or anything like that.
Well hell, let’s hope I have the same luck. I’ll let you know!

Did the procedure, overfilled slightly, ran it at the specified rpm. Did not lower the coolant level from a possible air pocket, as far as I can tell, however, the coolant was a bit low to start. So it’s nice and hot and humid today, we’ll see if the procedure worked!
Update...so far there is a noticeable improvement in the fan speeds and duration of running on high. I was able to get the gauge to read 230 for a second or so and it quickly went away. Have a highway trip end of the week and will see what the results are then. I should note that when I slightly overfilled the reservoir the level has never changed, so not so sure I got any air out of the system. However, my coolant was about a 1/4 inch low to begin with. Time will tell.
Do you ever get numbers to show up on the temp gauge anymore ?

No, they no longer show up. Keep it overfilled for a while (and maybe have like 1/2" - 3/4" extra in there), it sounds like it is working. It may be a slow process of getting the air out...I think it's going to work for you.
It definitely made a change so Ill keep it that way for a bit and see. What made you try this in the first place? Seems the video is more for a no heat problem than the problem we have.

LoL...I tried it because it was easy and I was a little low on fluid anyways. Plus, I saw where a couple guys with our same problem said it fixed it.
Update...took a trip, outside air temps in the low 90s, truck would regularly show coolant temps from 226-234. As usual, up the overpass turbos would boost and once crested the top of the hill boost comes off and temps pop up above the gauge and show numbers. 234 was the highest and to me still seems high, for an empty truck at 75mph and around 1800 rpms. Any idea if the gauge is supposed to show numbers? If so, is it a warning type of condition? Ford still feels this is normal and engine temp aren't a concern for the 17 until 250 plus.
Correct, unfortunately no one seems to know what number that is, and Ford seems to think the temp showing up is not running hot. They told me the engineers at Ford said the gauge shouldn't do that unless I have altered the program with ForScan, which I haven't.

The 'engineers' are wrong, the numbers will show if the temp is above a certain number - from the factory. I do not know what that number is though. They have been that way since before Forscan came out.
I would bet they haven't talked to an engineer about it either.
They showed me a copy of the conversation . It’s like a chat line they have I guess. They also told the dealership this truck is not beyond operating temps till 270 degrees, however, it will begin cutting power and turbos at just over 250. My gauge starts showing numbers at 226 and goes up in 2 degree increments .
