New 6.2

It became time to either put money into or replace my LBZ Duramax. Decided I didn’t want a new diesel for obvious reasons. Wasn’t going to touch the Ram and didn’t want a motor in the first model year so that kicked out the 6.6 Chevy and 7.3 ford. Had several buddies tell me I would regret going with a gas and to be honest, I don’t feel like I gave up a thing with the 6.2 when compared to my LBZ. I got a F250 CCLB in the STX package. Could not be happier with my purchase. Been getting about 10.5 mpg pulling my horse trailer. Would get 11-12 best case with the Duramax. Can crest the same hills at the same speed, only difference is I am spinning 4000-4500rpm vs 2500-3000. Got less than 10 pulling my camper with my Duramax and getting 8.5 with the 6.2. I always felt my Duramax could out pull my brothers 2012 Cummins and I think this 6.2 is right there with it. I made it to 400 miles before I had to hook up to my stock trailer but this thing really seemed to come alive after 1000 miles.

Wow. I could have written this! Just went from 06 LBZ to 20 F350 6.2 and am very pleased. The DuraMax/Allison was a champ, but this ford gasser is very refined. Love it. Will be doing a lot of towing and hauling over the next couple of months and that will be the real test. So far have towed ~ 10k lbs but only around town. Not missing deezul at all.

You didn't go wrong with the 6.2, it's a proven motor and it's a workhorse. My 2013 with 4.30 gears pulls our 16K trailer all over the country, with 62K miles 41K are pulling the trailer and we overall average 8 to 9 when pulling long distances.

I sold my 06 LBZ in 2011 for a first year 6.2 ECSB and couldn't have been happier with it.

Traded that 11 6.2 in a couple years later because I wanted a CC 6.2 and I still have it today.

...and I could have written this too.
Got rid of an absolute POS Duramax - never made a return trip without SOME kind of issue - and bought my current 2012 6.2
As I see it, the 6R140 is superior to the Allison and the 6.2 gas engine is just as strong; I have zero problems pulling ANY hill here in BC.

I hope to hang on to this one for a long, long time.

Had a little experience today with my 2013 Lariat DRW 6.2 4.30 gears. It's been parked since May 23rd because I have a 03 F150 XLT 4.6 to drive when we are at our home base to keep miles off the pulling truck and what a pleasure the 6.2 is to drive not that I don't like my F150 but the 6.2 is just a nice smooth engine transmission combination but I would like to drive one with a 10 speed. I drove it today to gas it up because of the price, $1.86 was hard to turn down and both the main and aux tank were close to empty.
