OK so I found a place local to me that is called Certified Diesel Power. If you are within 75 miles of this place, I highly recommend them.
CDP checked all the wiring, found no issues. They were able to find a local 7.3 EX that was willing to loan his PCM for testing. When that PCM was installed into my EX, all problems gone. No missing, no weird idle, no stuttering or death if you tap the unit. It is 100% the PCM. So I called DieselECMexchange and the person on the phone cannot help with my refund. She gave me the email to her billing dept. I emailed them Thursday, Friday, Today, and I have not heard anything back from them yet. My next step is to give PayPal a call and see what they think should be done about the situation. I am not happy with the service I have received from DieselECM. They had the unit twice and did not solve the problem. They also just took too long to do things. Anyone have contact info of the repair tech Johnathan out of Chattanooga Tennessee? I really wanted my refund first, but that process may take some time so I guess I need to find another PCM.
I put my order in for my PCM from dieseltechchattanooga Tuesday Aug 25. I used NDA and it showed up 2:30pm on Wednesday, went over to the shop to install and no issues with wiggling or tapping. Truck seems fine, I have driven 170 miles so far with no issues. If you think you are ever having PCM issues, make sure you use https://www.dieseltechchatt.com/pages/contact
I am very satisfied with the PCM that I got from them.
Now I want to move on to putting a custom tune on my SCTX4. I do not want to run any of the canned tunes anymore because they will be set for Excursion with PATS, and I no longer have PATS. Thinking of going with DPTuner. Anyone have a better source for custom tunes using SCTX4?
Sounds good and I bet you feel relieved that it's finally over. When you jump to replacing an IDM or a PCM it's kind of a leap of faith that that expensive part will solve the problem. Especially because it's hard to nail it down as the culprit, it's just that nothing else worked. Thanks for reporting back.
I assume many of the popular tuners could provide their tunes for the SCTX4 but don’t know for sure. I would pick your favorite and give them a call.
I doubt you will see much recommendation for DP on here. No experience personally, just an observation of other’s comments.
I have been searching the threads and all the posts I have found are kind of old. I liked the idea of this one place that was local to me in Louisville. I looked the business up on Facebook and they have not posted since 2018. I may need to make a new thread. It seemed like most of the 7.3 guys knew people by name that worked at some of these shops. Not sure if those people are still employed there.
A little late here but my 03 V10 stall was due to a bad fuel relay soldered to the main fuse board. There is a guy on eBay who rebuilds the board, it was about $100, and not hard to remove and reinstall the board. Apparently the boards suffer water damage via the windshield gasket, I live in Cali so not too much water here.
Anyways, search it out on this forum. Ford dealer started with the fuel pump but after 3 visits and them reaching out to Detroit - they came up empty.
I had the board rebuilt 4 years ago and it has not stalled since that time.
