1977 f250 with 4.9. 2wd. What I have and what I bought aren’t the same, bolt holes line up, but bracket won’t go on the new pump due to size.
attached are pictures of the pump from my truck and the pump from the parts store. Looking at pictures online at Oreillys and Napa show the same thing I purchased, so I don’t think they had the wrong part in the box (Which was Napa).
I checked pictures of 1976 also since my brake booster was 1976 model.
I thought about shimming the bracket since holes lined up but it will move the pulley position a bunch.
any thoughts on this? Anyone have a picture of what a 1977 pump should look like (ie did someone replace it with something different in the past 43 years)
Pretty sure 76 & 77 pump should be the same, and the one you bought definitely matches the 76 pump that is on my 68 F-100s 390 FE. Hope that isn't too confusing of a statement.
Looks like your truck is running a later model power steering pump. That's definitely a later style ford pump. Might want to use rock auto to compare to what later model trucks with the same engine use.
