I picked this pump up for my 272 Y block and would like to see how it should be mounted. Got any pictures? I want to use it with a Toyota Steering gear upgrade.
I have the same pump but I'm fitting it to my 8BA flathead. Looks like you are also missing the same bracket. I wish that whoever is salvaging these old pumps would think about including that key bracket.

BJ - Looking at your pump vs mine note that the adjustment slot (that you have your hand on in the picture) is in a different location. I suspect that your pump came off a 6 cylinder engine. If you elect to make a bracket you will need to keep that in mind in order for the pump to be level.
I have not found a good source for these brackets. I even called H&H Flatheads in California as I have seen pictures of their yard filled with used engines. I thought for sure that one of them would have that bracket still on it. But then I believe that 1953 was the only year that flatheads had power steering. You should have better luck with your Y block. I think that the 312 is basically the same block too. Ross would know for sure.
has this bracket on the back as well.
I'm pretty sure that all Y-Block mounted the PS pump similar. Mine was supposed to have come off a running 292. My problem is I have tried in vain to find pictures with one installed. Even looked in the repair manual but no clear pictures.
OK. Could be. It is just that your mounting axis is different. Here are some pictures that I found of flathead mounts. I see nothing specific to the Y block but the verical mounts might give you some ideas.
The same guy that sold me mine sold this one too but it was gone before I got to him. I believe that this mount is the stock flathead mount.
This is the mounting for a Delco pump.
This was a homemade pump. Note the vertical mounting bolts. I'm not sure why they are so long.
And here is yet another homemade version.
And another that looks a bit over-designed.
This one is not on a flathead but is a vertical mount to the face of the block. It looks a bit kimshi-rigged.
BJ I think this is what you want (part #3C511). Note that it is for big trucks 1954 and up. Maybe Numbersdummy can help to see if anyone has that part.
Here are some photos of the Eaton pump on a Y-block.
Thanks Mike,
These are the pictures I'm looking for. Got any more closer? I see my front bracket I believe but not the one in the back. Does yours have special mounting bolts?
Sorry to thread jack but what is that next to the radiator?? Is that a coolant reservoir? Where'd you get it? Is it original? Looks awesome!
It is a overflow tank from OTB. They make matching accessories. Home Page

I will take a couple photos when I get home from work tomorrow and post them.
